The Shepherd Neame AGM was held on 1st November 2024 in Faversham.
The meeting was well attended and commenced with a presentation from the board reviewing performance over the previous year. The company continues to invest in the pub estate, and several recent developments were highlighted.
There has been a move away from low margin packaged products to focus on higher margin outlets, and a new improved logistics contract has been negotiated. The company confirmed their commitment to cask ale, which is promoted through their ‘cask club’ offering of limited-edition seasonal ales.
Following the presentation there was an opportunity for questions. The impact of the recent budget featured high on the agenda, and the company outlined the impact of an increase in the minimum wage. However, the main impact will come from the reduction in the threshold at which employers’ national insurance becomes payable. The directors confirmed that, while the budget presents challenges, they are determined to overcome these and confident in their ability to succeed.
Following the meeting, shareholders were invited to attend the brewery for lunch, and an opportunity to sample the company’s products. Several cask ales were on offer, including the ever popular seasonal ‘Late Red’.
Overall, a satisfactory meeting.
