Sean Murphy

It is with deep regret that I report the death of Committee member Sean Murphy, who died during the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Sean was the first Chairman of the Club when it was formed in 1989. He served on the Campaign’s National Executive for six years up until 1990 and was a well-known figure in real ale circles on Merseyside.

An accountant and tax advisor by training, but a hippie by inclination, he was easily identified by his long flowing blonde (later whitish!) locks and beard, and always had a pint in his hand. Everybody who met him was enriched by the experience.

Sean will be sorely missed as both Committee member and as a good friend.
